For now, at least, he's trying his hand at something new:

.Martin, who's from Chicago, has given up his UFC dream for now and will step in the ring as a boxer for the first time Friday night as part of an ``8 Count Productions'' card. Martin will face Ricardo Upchurch at the Odeum Sports and Expo Center in Villa Park in a scheduled four-rounder. He'll fight at the 190-pound cruiserweight level, which should alleviate a problem he had making 185 pounds with the UFC.

if he cant last 3 rounds, what makes him think he can last 12?
&
if he gets KO'd by sloppy Leben, what happens when he fights a real striker?

as if his career in fighting wasn't already over, now we will get confirmation

Maybe Terry doesn't know you need to be conditioned to box

UPDATE : Terry is not leaving MMA. He's just on temporary hiatus. An update from Terry's grappling coach sent to this writer:

I have been the grappling/MMA coach for Terry Martin for the last 2 and a half years. Terry wants everybody to know that he is training full time in MMA getting ready for his May 17th fight in Newcastle England against THE CROW and that boxing is only a way for him to stay active .His goal is to win a few fights outside the UFC and return to compete for the 185 lb title..

Wow, he's going to do even worse. He has a weak chin and in his MMA fights has showed no technique with his hands! Once he faces somebody decent that can dodge his power, he's gonna get KTFO!

A weak chin? Since when did getting KO'd by Leben after 14 minutes of torrid fighting and getting KO'd by a flying knee mean you have a weak chin?

3 out of 4 losses are by KO. You could say they were all at the hands of heavy hitting guys but that's all boxing is, is heavy handed guys. Yeah some beat you with speed but they all hit hard because their trained to hit you in the face. Marvin didn't KO him because he wouldn't even let Marvin hit him, he was too busy hugging him.

He don't like to get hit either which is why he kept taking Leban down and clinching/hugging Eastman. Which is why this decision has me shocked. Boxers are going to be hitting him all day.

You know what I'm glad he's leaving. He obviously didnt want to put in any time to have a ground game so I guess he just figured he'll box instead. He got knocked out by Leben and now he thinks he can take on a pro boxer. Never liked him anyway. He'll be nothing more then a punching bag.

Good idea for Martin. The guy has lost twice in a row in the UFC. Why not try to make some money boxing? Although he should come back to the UFC because I think he's got a serious future if his big ego doesn't get in the way.
