With two wins in a row, UFC lightweight Jeremy Stephens wants to face a former Pride champion Takanori Gomi for his next match-up, and he knows it’s fight the fans would love to see.

With two wins in a row and four out of his last fight, UFC lightweight Jeremy Stephens has proven he is one of the most dangerous fighters in the world on his feet.

Proven technique and deadly power have made Stephens a force to be reckoned as seen in evidence with his highlight reel knockout of Rafael Dos Anjos or as he blasted through Marcus Davis at UFC 125.

That would be a tough fight for Stephens, would be an exciting fight though.

Stephens could take it with him being the better wrestler.

I agree that he could take it if he uses his wrestling. If he tries to stand with Gomi, which is what he seems to want from the article... I don't know if it ends well for him.

Stephens was getting worked by Marcus Davis for two and a half rounds before Lil Heathen caught him clean and put him away....

I'd enjoy this fight. Let's make it happen. The kid has guts to call out someone like Gomi. Stephens is probably brave enough to even stand with him.

Gomi gets a little too much credit, Stephens would knock him out easy. If the fight were to actually happen though, I'd be cheering for the fireball kid all the way.

I would love that fight. That'd be absolutely ridiculous. Probably easily be a fight of the year candidate since both have rock solid chins. I'd take Stevens though because he'd probably get a few takedowns when their not brawling it out to seal the deal.

It would be a great feather in his cap....although if Gomi lost it would most likely be the end of his UFC career.

Great fight. I actually set it up last week for Pookie's fantasy draft.

Great fight, I think Stephens would beat Gomi. Should be a war though!

Okay, so Stevens was getting outboxed by Davis. Gomi is not Davis. He is a big striker who relies on his chin and power as opposed to straight punches and clean technique.

Stevens wins if he ducks in and out, using his speed and movement to beat up Gomi over 3 rounds. Is a knockout possible? Sure, but I think it's only with a crazy fluke of a punch or through working Gomi and draining his cardio for a while.

Standing in the pocket isn't exactly suicide, but it's not the smartest play against Gomi, either. There's better ways to win. Stevens has the tools to get it done, but the question is whether he has the discipline and the gameplan to make it happen.

Stevens wants to bang with Gomi, but I think Gomi is on a higher level than Stevens,

Stephens is not exactly a take down specialist and I imagine this fight will remain standing. This fight has the potential to be a fight of the night.

Make it happen.

In my view, stephens is actually higher up the ladder than gomi and deserves a better fight than gomi. Gomi was fading from lw relevance even before ufc, he is probably around 15th to 20th in the ufc pecking order in the division. Stephens is hovering around 10th to 15th, he should fight pettis or the loser of miller henderson. Either that or someone from the 132 card with siver, sotiropolos etc.
