A major MMA announcement is planned this week and the names involved are eye-opening.

Georges St-Pierre, former Bellator MMA promoter Bjorn Rebney and a handful of other well-known fighters will be making an "industry re-defining" announcement Wednesday on a media conference call, according to a press release sent out Monday.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw, Donald Cerrone and Tim Kennedy are the other names listed in the release and they will be part of the conference call.

The conference call is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.

Bjorn starting a grappling organization that will be part of the UFC brand and air on Fight Pass and be the exclusive place for UFC fighters to grapple? 100% guess.

My guess is mma just got unionized

If Donald Cerrone and Tim Kennedy are apart of it, a union is a good guess

This should be interesting but im leaning toward union.

I was hoping Bjorn had disappeared for good.

Would a MMA Union be "industry re-defining"? I don't think so. Bjorn's involvement tells me that this might be something other than a fighter's Union. I could be wrong but either way I'm fairly interested in finding out just what this "re-defining" moment is. Let's hope it's not like Geraldo opening Al Capone's vault.

Tag team MMA. I wish.

It might be one-night tournaments, since they are legal as long as they only involve one weight class.

Has to be a union. That would be gigantic.

Also all of the fighters mentioned aren't represented by WME-IMG, but by CAA.

Except maybe Cerrone.

First thing that came to my mind was fighters union, but we'll see.
