From his personal blog on mmaid......

I'm off to Tokyo!
A big announcement will come straight from Japan tomorrow (February 13).
When the official part is done I'll be able to provide more information about everything,
and believe me, I have many things to say.
What you could easily guess by now is that I won't be retiring.
I'll keep on fighting, it's my life, it's what I do.

I think it become clear now that he will be release of his UFC's contract and will go back to K-1.

If it is that, i say good move by both part !!
Unless the big news is that he will move down to 205, witch is a possibility.

hes not leaving the UFC the annoucnemnt is proabaly just another top opponent, doubt he drops to 205 he would be skinny at 205 at the weigh ins, but he would do great at 205 even tho its stacked, i guess it wouldnt be surprising to hear him to back K-1 or another org. but knowing dana he wont let cro cop fight elsewhere until the contract is up

I don't think CC can denied his poor performance in the octagon .

Dana is not blind, when a guy who was supposed to be your new champ fight like a can, you have to do something to protect your company and if it is to release the guy or to ask him to sigh a new deal who will match his real caliber, he have to do it.

Here's the breaking story from Wrestling Observer:

Reports from Japan, as well as a web site post by Mirko Cro Cop both state Cro Cop will be in Japan tomorrow for a press conference put on by Fighting Entertainment Group (K-1), which will announce the debut of a new MMA promotion to take the place of its Hero's division.

Cro Cop was the most popular foreign MMA fighter in Japan when he signed a six-fight deal at the end of 2006 with UFC. After going 1-2 in UFC, it was known UFC was considering cutting him from the deal due to the high cost of his contract.

His heading to the opening of the new group would make it likely that is how things turned out but we haven't had that confirmed from the UFC side.

I hope he doesn't fight in mma anymore. If I had it my way he would only leave the UFC to fight in K-1 against the top strikers in the world, but life is life eh?

Back to K-1, that's my guess.

I only fault him for the GG fight. The Congo fight was close and he did that with a broken rib, deviated septum and several hard shots to the berries

Edit: Read on some other boards there is a press conference the same day for the new K-1/ex-DSE "Dreams" promotion. Coincidence???

Yep he left for Dream, the new FEG-DSE merger. I've been trying to get on mma-id to read up but the damn site is so full I can't get on...and I help get that site running!
